Ms. Catherine Primary Head Teacher
Catherine was born and raised in Somerset, England. She studied Education and Social Policy at Cardiff University, followed by teacher training at Bath Spa University. In summers between studying, Catherine worked as a camp counsellor and lifeguard in the USA. During her summer holidays as a teacher, she has previously worked as a nanny for families across Europe.
Her training and certifications have continued with the National College for Teaching and Leadership as a Middle Leader and she has provided school-to-school support in her capacity of Specialist Leader of Education. Catherine has extensive experience working as an English Leader, Year Group Leader and Assistant Head Teacher; specialising in Literacy and Phonics training whilst developing the teaching of reading across many schools.
Catherine’s first international teaching post was in Cyprus and she arrived in Grand Cayman in 2017, shortly after getting married. Since living on island she has been teaching at Cayman Prep, leading the teaching team in Year 3. Catherine is extremely passionate about teaching. She enjoys interacting with the students, encouraging them to develop new skills and increase their knowledge.
Most recently Catherine and her husband Alex have welcomed baby Jessica into their family. Since living on island they have also adopted a very energetic dog from the Humane society who keep them busy outside of working hours! Catherine loves photography and the outdoors, both on land and paddle boarding in the ocean. She is keen to help protect our planet and advocates reducing, reusing and recycling.
