Mr. Nonso, Toddler and Sports Teacher
Also known as NearChukwu (meaning 'Close to God') Nonso was born in Lagos Nigeria, but grew up in South Africa and discovered his true calling in Canada, whilst working with challenged children through the early childhood education program at Mohawk College in Ontario, Canada.
Nonso is a qualified Montessori teacher and Early Childhood football coach with a Curriculum and Coaching Foundation Diploma from United Soccer Coaches (USC), formerly known as National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He also holds a certificate in Animation, specializing in Character Designing through Boston Media College, South Africa.
Due to his love of traveling to various countries, Nonso has had several opportunities to work with challenged children from a variety of multicultural backgrounds. “Each child is unique and does not need to be limited in expressing that uniqueness”. Thus, the Montessori philosophy aligns with his belief system in Early Childhood Development/Education and is committed to continuous learning in this area.
In January 2017, Nonso and his spouse Mich decided to visit Cayman Islands for holiday and charity work. He volunteered as a football coach for a Girls Under 11 team then later volunteered at Island Montessori School before joining as a full time member of the team.
His favorite activities in his spare time is to consciously and unconsciously remember that art is football (soccer), soccer (football) is Art, getting enough hot yoga therapy, cycling, listening and sharing good music with Mich and his son and traveling.
