Katelyn Babock Lead Casa Teacher

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Katelyn is a dedicated and passionate educator, committed to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and independence. She studied in the Bachelor of Physical Education program at Grant MacEwan University and the University of Alberta, before having the opportunity to spend a year as a one-on-one classroom aide for preschool students with special needs. That’s when she fell in love with teaching and working with children. Katelyn has since spent the last 13 years as a preschool teacher, campus director, and VP of Curriculum and Innovation while supporting arts and project-based learning opportunities using Montessori, Reggio, Waldorf, and emergent learning methods.

Outside of the classroom, Katelyn loves the outdoors and engages in rock climbing, hiking, beach volleyball, and snorkelling. In her down time, she likes to read, paint, or watch a good movie.

Katelyn moved to Grand Cayman in February of 2025 with her husband Jim and their dog Shasta and is very excited to join the Island Montessori team. Her favourite thing about early childhood education is that “children are so full of wonder. Everything is still so big, exciting, and new for them, and their potential for growth is only limited by the boundaries we place on them. They are infinitely capable and have endless imaginations, and they teach us as much as we teach them. There is never a dull moment!”
